Throughout its product family Delcam software has the power to fulfill the manufacturing needs of bespoke orthotics and orthopedic footwear. Advanced users can benefit from directly using the tools within CopyCAD, PowerSHAPE and PowerMILL for the likes of adapting lasts to scanned data before NC milling. This proves to be very useful, however, most of our established users benefit from customised tools to aid their process.
Step-by-Step CADCAM for Orthotics Footwear
In the majority of cases, medical disorders like pronation depend upon a series of standard rules to make the correct orthotics. Through customisation these alterations can become semi-automated within CopyCAD or PowerSHAPE depending on the specific requirements.
Having software that does most of the hard work means that users can immediately start fulfilling customers orders without any time wasted on training. Untrained technicians can simply insert a few parameters through stages of a step-by-step process. This also helps reduce the number of procedures; the process is quicker as well as easier so the time taken between patients having their foot scanned to the time they receive their order is greatly diminished.
Orthopaedic footwear is more complicated than standard orthotics as it concerns more of the foot but the same concept of semi-automation can be applied. For instance, technicians can work from predefined calculated sections, or define them as they wish.
